We were very fortunate to be introduced to Kenny Hahn through a close family friend. We set up a phone call with him, which turned into an hour conversation and an in-person meeting shortly thereafter. It was clear to us immediately that Kenny was the right person to represent us and our Jewish heritage and identity. He is open, warm, accepting, and knowledgeable. He spoke freely about his experiences with Judaism, and asked thoughtful, respectful questions of us and our experiences with Judaism. He will be the trusted adviser we turn to for guidance when thinking about how Judaism fits into our lives moving forward.
We wanted to create a simple, yet very intimate and meaningful wedding celebration with our families in our back yard. We had a feeling that Kenny would be perfect, and for that reason we flew him in from Massachusetts to Arizona to be our wedding officiant. What we didn’t know was just how personal and inclusive it would be. We were all blown away by his ability to seamlessly weave our Buddhist/Yogic leanings with the teachings of Judaism. Andrew is Jewish and we wanted to include some of the ritual from that tradition. Kenny brought his vast knowledge of spiritual practices, his compassion, his wisdom, his gifts of intuition, and his warm-hearted and humorous nature. We laughed often during the ceremony, we cried (of course) and we all walked away uplifted. Kenny not only enlightened everyone present about the power and meaning of the marriage ritual, but also bonded us together into a tighter sense of connection. It would not be an exaggeration to say that his presence was a very big part of what made our wedding memorable. We know this because it was he who was glowingly commented upon by family and friends, far more than the food, flowers, dresses and music.
My wife and I each have a Jewish parent and a Christian parent; so, we were hoping to have an officiant from both the Jewish and Christian faiths marry us in partnership -- as "co-officiants".
It was such a joy to work with Rabbi Hahn. He was truly our favorite person to work with and became a friend and counselor during this crazy season of wedding preparation. We meant with him via Skype since we lived out of state and he quickly calmed all of our fears and had answers to all our questions. Most of our wedding guests were not Jewish so we were worried if they would like or understand the ceremony but they all came up to us after and said how much they loved the ceremony and that it was the best one they had been to. Choosing him as our officiant was the best wedding decision we made!
Kenny worked in true partnership with our Christian officiant, and each treated the other with respect and grace. It was the perfect representation of how our two faiths have been interwoven in our lives. Thank you Kenny!
Rabbi Ken was fantastic! He made a point of meeting us (via Skype or in person) several times before the wedding. He also helped us tailor a ceremony that fit us. The day of the wedding went so smoothly and Ken was a perfect officiant - we didn't stop getting compliments about the ceremony! Would certainly recommend Rabbi Ken.
Ken did an excellent job with our wedding. Very calm, funny, and did a great job understanding what we wanted out of the ceremony, and making sure we were prepared for it.
