Nice old worldly shopping experience, something between a mall and an indoor market. Good selection of places for gifts with many stores/stands that have home made items. There are a lot of places that have cute gift ideas for Christmas or special occasions. That staff overall were very helpful, would definately recommend to anyone to go for a visit. A nice way to spend a few hours browsing and shopping for lovely little things.
This mini Mall of an assortment of eclectic little stores goes back to when I visited Northampton in the 1970's. It is in a multi story building on Main Street and has numerous store fronts but the original buildings ceiling, (they have 4 walls and separate entrances but are open on the top a few feet short of walls top and all share the common buildings ceiling. The building just went through a $750,000.00 face lift this year. New store fronts, highly polished dark stained wood floors and new lighting as well as some new stores to reach 100% occupancy.
I love working here! It's warm, cozy even familial. Accepting of everyone, everywhere. Revered class and well-earned reputation!
Like a mall made by hippies and hipsters, For complete lack of a better description. Absolutely chock full of interesting small stores and boutiques - including the legendary Harel's ice cream - this is the perfect spot to begin any Northampton experience. In many ways it's almost like a microcosm of the town itself. In any case, it's by far my favorite place to just walk and browse, particularly in the winter months when it's too cold to do that outside. Just be prepared to pay a pretty penny for parking - although helpfully there is a parking garage and you don't necessarily have to track down street parking.
Nice shops. You need to enjoy the Northampton experience in order to enjoy shopping anywhere there. After living there 16 years I don't care for the uber political correctness that permeates everything. If you get past that it's fine.
